Glass Balustrade Inspiration: Elevating Every View, Every Build

Discover how frameless and semi-frameless glass balustrade systems bring safety and uninterrupted views together, from rooftop terraces to coastal balconies and everything in between.

Glass Balustrade Inspiration: Elevating Every View, Every Build
Choosing between frameless and semi-frameless glass balustrade systems usually comes down to the look you’re after, the site and the budget. Here’s how each one suits different spaces.

There's a reason glass has become the default choice for anyone serious about their balustrade. Timber warps, weathers, and needs constant upkeep. Metal railings chop up the view and rust if you look at them wrong. Glass does neither it holds its safety rating, keeps its finish, and lets the outlook through instead of fighting it. It's the rare material that looks better the longer you have it, which is exactly why it's become the go-to across rooftops, balconies, and pool surrounds alike.

Where Glass Balustrading Earns Its Place

Rooftop terraces, coastal balconies, pool surrounds anywhere the outlook matters, glass balustrades are a modern and luxurious addition to any building. A solid or heavily framed barrier can make a small balcony feel boxed in. Glass does the opposite, it opens up the space and allows natural light to flood in.

Two Systems, Different Jobs

We supply two engineer-certified glass balustrade systems, and which one you reach for usually comes down to the brief. The Madrid Deluxe spigot system is fully frameless, glass only, held by discreet spigots, for projects where nothing should interrupt the sightline. The Australis system is semi-frameless and more flexible; it works with a range of infill glass panels, including DG41 laminated glass with its Belgian-made interlayer, so you can tailor the finish to the job rather than the job to the finish. If you're not sure which suits your project, our team can talk it through with you.

Keeping It Looking Like Day One

Glass balustrades only stay impressive if they stay clean, and that's where EnduroShield comes in. It's applied in-house and makes each panel water and oil-repellent, so grime and water spots don't build up the way they would on untreated glass. A few reasons trade clients keep asking for it:

  • Ultimate protection – Optically clear, UV stable, chemical resistant, water and oil repellent
  • Reduces maintenance costs – Glass stays visibly cleaner for longer, so cleans happen less often
  • Highly durable – Bonds permanently to the glass, backed by a true 10-year performance warranty*
  • Works across the board – Suited to balustrading, pool fencing, high-rise and domestic glazing, shower screens, and insulated glass units
